Happy Halloween!

Last night, I attended the phenomenal Barebones Halloween show in St. Paul. It's a four day outdoor puppet pageant and performance featuring pryotechnics, larger than life puppets, and live music.

I have never seen anything like it, the performances were wonderful and the giant puppets are insanely cool. I had to catch my breath.

If you have time, tonight or tomorrow night, get on over to Hidden Falls Park in St. Paul. The show is free, but donations are highly encouraged. If you go tonight there is also a Halloween party after the show!

Trick or Treat

One more day to Halloween! Since I can no longer go out for Trick or Treat, I'll just oogle candy online until my salivary glands dry up.

I have a weak spot for caramels, and stumbled on this delectable looking one pound bag of homemade Vanilla Caramels by Have It Confections for $16 today. Yum delish!

Blood For Thought

I was listening to my all too awesome Halloween playlist this morning on the way to work (think The Cramps, Bobby "Boris" Pickett...etc) and it got me thinking about monsters. I have to ask myself : why are vampires my favorite? To hell with werewolves, frankenstein's monster and the swamp thing. Vampires are where it's at.

Food for thought. Is it the immortality thing? Are they at the top of your list? Why?

Soap Factory Haunted Basement

Minneapolis is host to a great many interesting Halloween events, one being the Haunted Basement at the Soap Factory. Last year, it was sold out before I could get in. I'm getting my tickets in advance this year. $15 a pop! Click here to buy tickets.

Be forewarned: the Haunted Basement is currently under investigation by the Twin Cities Paranormal Society, and you must sign a waiver before entering!

Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire

Is any cool, crisp autumn evening complete without a lovely fire? How about a lovely fire in a completely portable bonfire ring that also happens to be the height of cool? I'm serious, the bonfire rings by John T. Unger Studio are devastatingly gorgeous.

You'll find a happy variety, here's my favorite:

Go Batty

Need to spice up your Halloween decor? Grab these fun and completely temporary vinyl wall clings at Melanie A. Stewart on Etsy.

Want To Bug Me? Be A Bus Jerk.

Here's a surefire way to have everyone on the bus think you're an ass.

Read the newspaper, despite the fact that the bus is crowded.

Because in the 18 by 18 inch amount of space you are alloted, you surely have room to spread apart your four foot paper and not constantly graze your seatmate. Would you like a foot stool too? Perhaps your favorite smoking robe?

The bus is not your kitchen table people, and your neighbor is clearly irritated. Let's just stick to books and magazines shall we?

The Halloween Master

My hubby and I are constantly involved in this passionate quest to find the quirkiest of quirky music for any holiday situation. Well, any situation, really. We're music snobs, and proud of it. Over the years, we've dug up some major goodies (well, he has, but all with my full approval) and this season he's come across a mega find.

Find : The Reverend Tom Frost, a musician and blogger that I know very little about (despite the fact that he's been blogging since 2004).

What I do know this: he knows his sci-fi, westerns, cult classics and horror films. He also has beyond fabulous taste in music. Every so often, the Rev. posts some groovy playlists to his blog which are up for grabs on RapidShare.

If you love music like I do, stay tuned to his blog this Halloween season, sign up for the email list or dig through the site to see what you can find.

Here's a list that can still be downloaded right now, just in time to add some truly unique tunes to your repertoire and impress your friends at Halloween parties.
